Thirty-four Santa Maria High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students recently participated in competitive events at the Gold Coast Section Conference. The Saints competed in various business & financial, entrepreneurship and software systems development career paths to try and qualify for the state FBLA Leadership Conference in April. They took online objective tests during the week (Feb. 5th and 9th) and attended the conference on Feb. 10th at Westlake High School in Westlake, CA.

“Since this is my 4th year and my last Section conference, I was nervous but I learned how to take rejection as an opportunity and overall walk away with a great experience.’’ – Salma Guerrero-Lucas, FBLA Vice President Public Relations.

“Seeing all of the people line up made me nervous since my event was the very last one, but it made me grateful when I received my award!” – Nirvana Humbert Rodriguez, 12th grade.

“This is my first year in FBLA, so this was a new experience for me, but at the workshops everyone was really kind and social, so it was fun interacting with people there!” – Gabriela Rojas-Garcia, 11th grade.
