Two clubs at Santa Maria High School have been taking advantage of the spooky season and selling Halloween grams.  Let’s see what they had brewing in October.

Class of 2024 was selling Boo Grams from the 24th to the 30th of October. These Boo grams consisted of spooky treats and a fun message. These grams were sold at three dollars. They were located near the library. Hopefully you were able to get one for your boo or for yourself. “Just a fun way to celebrate the holiday for those who wanted to get involved” says Ms. Taylor, one of the club advisors. I tried to get in contact with the other club advisor, Ms. Clabough but unfortunately did not get a response.

French Club were selling Halloween grams on Halloween day near the practice field. These grams consisted of candies and a few other treats like stickers and spooky toys. They also had custom cards with them designed by their creative director of the club, also known as me, Rodrigo Garcia. These Halloween Goodie bags were sold for four dollars. Hopefully you got the chance to buy one of these while supplies lasted. Gustavo Ramirez, the club president, had this to say about the Halloween gram sales. “Sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t. We live and learn.” Lucas Becerra, the club’s treasurer, had this to say, “If that day was failure, we’ll come back with something new.” Unfortunately, French Club didn’t sell as much as previous times when they’ve done special sale events. Let’s see what Madame Akhavan, the club advisor, had to say about the Halloween grams. “French Club has done a lot of activities throughout the year and we’ve been involved with Back to School Night and the Fall Fair and this last event was Halloween. All of our club members really worked hard to be a part of the Halloween festivities here at Santa Maria High School and they did a really good job at just having fun and promoting our club and connecting with students on campus.”

Let’s hope to see these clubs and others sell more holiday goodies when the seasons greet us with open arms. Only time will tell that is. Hopefully you had a Happy Halloween.

About the Contributors
Rodrigo Garcia
Rodrigo Garcia, Contributor
My name is Rodrigo Garcia. This will be my first and final year as a Breeze Contributor as I am now a senior. If I would've known about the Journalism class earlier, I definitely would've joined. As I mentioned already, I'm a senior, Class of 2024. Some goals that I have while working on the Breeze is to hopefully release more podcast episodes, get even more articles published than before, and hopefully start doing some video production. I've always been pretty decent with handling video production so once we hopefully start to do videos, I could be a helping hand with it. Some stuff I like to do in my free time is draw. I usually prefer to draw digitally on my computer. Traditional drawing, not so much. I don't mind it, but I usually sketch when it comes to traditional drawing. But in all honesty, I love all things art. I even try to read books to understand the past history of art. I also love to play video games. I've been playing video games for most of my time being alive. I don't play very often because of school and other stuff I prioritize but I still try my best to make time to play a game whether if it's by myself or with my sister, it's all fine with me. I like to do voice acting/voice impressions. As someone who's been watching TV for years there's no doubt that the interest of mimicking voices was something I liked. I'm pretty good with doing voices from cartoons from the 60's to early 2000's. If you know some kind of show, chances are I might have a voice impression for that. I also love to go on walks. I'm not the sporty type of person but I always appreciate a nice walk, especially in the afternoons. I try to take long walks with my dog, but he gets easily distracted by the slightest noise or thing so he's all over the place, making it pretty annoying even to just walk to the other side of the area. I really hope we get a lot of work done this year to keep the staff and students informed of all types of media. As well as getting creative not only here on The Breeze, but on campus as well.

Hey, my name is Alondra Cruz, and I am a Senior. I'm 17 years old and my birthday is in December.

This is my first year taking journalism. I'm pretty good with writing so I'm hoping to write some good things. I've never been a person to speak up or willingly want to speak to others so I'm hoping that I can get out of my comfort zone for this class. I am part of the 2024 student council this year. I've been part of it since the middle of last school year.

Outside of school I am a very sporadic person with people I'm comfortable with. I'm not a very open person when it comes to meeting new people, but I always try and be a person others feel comfortable talking with. I am the youngest in my family. I only have one sibling and he is older than me. I'm a very introverted person and my biggest company at home are my two guinea pigs. They are both girls one named Remi and the other being Bean. One was given to me, and I bought the other one. Taking care of them has become a daily thing for me.

I recently started painting so it's begun to be a hobby of mine. I personally find peace and calmness in painting with different colors. I'm a big fan of dark colors more than I am to light colors. Another hobby I have is that I like collecting small figures of shows I've watched or am watching. Along with that I collect many plushies and blankets. I love having many blankets big or small because it's something that makes me feel very safe and it just makes my room look very comfortable. Lastly, I recently started going to the gym with my brother and it's been a pretty good thing. I hope I can continue these hobbies while school begins to get more difficult with applying to colleges and stuff.

For my future I do plan on going to college and getting my bachelorettes in criminal justice and minor in psychology. I would double major but I kind of don't trust myself in being able to handle it. Mainly it's just a thought for now.

That's a little bit about me if you were interested :)
