The SMHS Athletic Department held a signing ceremony this week for wrestling standout Alanis Cedeno who will attend William Jewell University in Liberty, MO.
Family, Coach Torres, Administrators, Counselors, Kenna (Athletic Trainer), and friends were there to share the special moment with her. All in attendance enjoyed a wonderful decorative cake with the university mascot and her name on it.
“I’m extremely blessed to be able to announce this next chapter in my life where I will further both my academic and athletic journey in the fall at William Jewell University,’’ Alanis said. “Thank you to my coaches for pushing me to be the greatest athlete I could be, both on and off the matt. Go Cardinals!”
Alanis, who has a 3.9 GPA, is interested in earning a master’s degree in physical therapy.
“Santa Maria Athletics is very proud of Alanis, and we wish her the best of luck,’’ said Saint Athletic Director Dan Ellington.
