Who are BTS?

BTS, are a South Korean Boy Band who were formed in 2010, and later debuted on June 13th, 2013. BTS have seven members, which are Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, and Jeon Jungkook. All of the members have a position in the group, the leader being Namjoon, vocalists being Seokjin, Taehyung, Jungkook, and Jimin. The rappers are Hoseok,  Yoongi, and Namjoon. They all have stage names they go by which are, Jin(Seokjin), Suga(Yoongi), J-hope(Hoseok),RM(Namjoon), V(Taehyung), Jungkook, and Jimin.

BTS come from the company HYBE, which is now one of the biggest companies in South Korea. However, when BTS first started, their company was named ‘Big Hit Entertainment’ and was really small. In 2015, when they released ‘I Need U,’ their popularity increased which also helped their company.

Biggest Achievements:

BTS’s biggest hits recently were ‘My Universe’ (which featured Coldplay), ‘Dynamite,’ and ‘Butter’. All those songs reached number one on the billboard charts. ‘Life goes on’, ‘PTD(permission to dance)’, ‘Savage Love(remix)’, also reached number one on the billboard charts. ‘Dynamite’ and ‘Butter’ both broke records on YouTube. ‘Dynamite’ reached 100 million views in 24 hours, while ‘Butter’ reached 108 million views.

BTS have many other very successful songs. Some BTS songs received a lot of attention from the western side, and that gave them an opportunity to become more known and to gain more fans. One of those songs was ‘DNA’. It was released in 2017, and later BTS performed it at the AMA’s (American Music Awards).

BTS’s most recent successful album was ‘BE’, which was released in 2020, it broke many records and got the award for ‘Album of the year’ in the MAMA’s(Mnet Asian Music Awards). Last year in 2021, BTS were nominated four times for the Billboard Music Awards, and they took home all four awards, which became another one of their many big achievements. BTS also, have the most awards any K-pop idol or group has ever had. They have 65 Dasaengs, which are the biggest and most important awards of the night, at the MAMA’s. BTS have a total of 442 awards out of the 636 awards they have been nominated for.

BTS are known for making K-pop more popular, and the President of South Korea just like many other K-pop artists have said that BTS paved the way for K-pop.

Why are they so loved?

BTS’s achievements aren’t only about how many awards they have won, but also what they do to help out people. The message BTS spread is to love yourself. Most of the concepts they have for their music videos are about loving yourself. They made a Love Yourself campaign where they talked about today’s generation and what to do to help them. They inspire people all over the world. Many people today judge themselves and BTS helps them by making music spreading positivity. A lot of BTS fans struggle with loving themselves and being happy which is why they don’t see BTS as just another K-pop group, but as people who have helped them.

BTS write meaningful lyrics and they try to help their fans and people all over the world. Their songs always talk about the struggles in life and how people should face them. They write songs dedicated to their fans, one of those songs is ‘Pied Piper’.

BTS love their fans just as much as their fans love them. They show the love they have for their fans all the time and are very social with them. They always look out for their fans safety at the concerts they have, and this is one reason why their fans love them so much.

BTS gave a speech at the UN and that is a big accomplishment because not everyone goes there. The speech they gave was beautiful, and made their fans love them even more. They also met the President of South Korea and they made a time capsule for the future youth that they will open in the year 2039 which is the 20th Korea’s youth day.  The President of South Korea has met with BTS multiple times, he has given them awards and said that they are the pride of South Korea.

ARMYS?

ARMY, is the name of BTS’s fandom. Army are the biggest fandom, with over 50 million fans being apart of it. BTS gave their fandom the name ‘ARMY’ on July ninth, which Army’s now consider as their birthday. Since BTS are known all the over the world, their fandom is also very well known.

Many people consider Army’s as the most toxic fandom. This is because Army’s are always protecting BTS, and sometimes it gets out of hand. Why do army’s do this? In the past BTS were treated poorly and made fun of, people would say they wouldn’t succeed because of how little fans they had. Now BTS is known all over the world, and there are more army’s now. If someone is rude to BTS, Army’s will make sure that they regret it, Army is a big fandom so its no surprise. They attack anyone who is rude towards BTS and although they have good intentions of keeping BTS safe, sometimes it goes too far. Army’s love BTS and they will continue to protect and support them.

BTS came to Los Angeles last year for their concert. They performed for four days at the Sofi Stadium in Inglewood. BTS are coming back with more concert dates this year. They will be holding concerts for four days in Las Vegas during April. Three of them will be in person concerts and the fourth one will be online.
