On Tuesday, January 25th, the girls Varsity basketball team, won their last home game against Atascadero with a score of 60-52.

The highest scorer that night was Paula Juarez Rosales, a junior here at SM. Paula scored a total of 20 points that night, her personal record. When asked how she felt about being the highest scorer she said, “it was really nice because everyone was there and it was really fun playing the last game there, and scoring 20 points.”

This was a very important and meaningful game to the girls basketball team, because it was Senior Night which falls on their last home game. There are seven seniors, but counting Paula (as this is her only year to play with the team, as she will go back to Spain this summer), though she is a junior, a total of eight players were recognized. Paula was asked how she felt after the game and she said, “It was really nice because it was Senior Night and winning that game was important.”  That night was sad and exciting for the players, since they have played with the same coach, Erik Ramos, for the past four years and that was the last game they would play here at SMHS.

The girls basketball team seem to have been doing very well in league play as well as preseason games. In the Leagues they have four wins and four losses. In all games they have 14 wins and eight losses. Although, this was their last home game they still have four games left for them to play.
