Teachers, Staff and Students: SMHS is celebrating Day of the Dead! Stop by the Admin Bldg and the school art gallery (between office and library) to see the beautiful altars SMHS Saints have created to honor loved ones and important community figures. Students, please remember to be respectful and quiet while visiting the Administration Office Building.

Attention Students and Staff! Come and be part of this fun event: Glow in the Dark Zumbathon Fundraiser! It’s going to be today at 6:00 PM in the Cafeteria. One day special! Tickets are 50% off for students only. Buy your tickets today before they sell out! See Community Liaison, Patty Lopez, in the Administration Building, room 122 (Between the parent center and the attendance office).

November is National Adoption Month! Did you know, in our county, there are approximately 425 youths in foster care? Stop by our booth, next Monday thru Wednesday, (at lunch) and learn more.

Debate Club: There is a meeting today, (at lunch) in room 636. Everyone is welcome. See you there!

Attention all clubs – AP Promoters will be hosting the 17th annual Wake-A-Thon next Thursday night in the small gym. This event will run the entire night (beginning at 9pm and ending the following morning at 6am). Students are encouraged to join AP Promoters for a night of fun and games and to be distracted from your outside busy lives. If you wish to attend, you must first turn in a completed pledge sheet and a participation form to Mr. Orlick in room 632. Please visit Mr. Orlick to pick up the pledge sheet and form. Remember, you need to have these completed in order to attend.

Saints, join us for this Friday’s football game in the student section. Wear your red and white spirit gear, and receive a free pom-pom!

Girls Wrestling: Now is your chance to join the “Lady Saints Wrestling Team! Practices will begin Monday thru Friday at 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM. No experience required. Calling all Staff and Students! Come out this Friday night to cheer on your Saints football team. The Saints football team will be playing for a League Championship for the first time since 1989. It is KSBY’s game of the week. This is a great opportunity to show the spirit of Santa Maria High School. Let’s go Saints!

Boys Soccer Tryouts will begin Monday thru Friday. JV begins at 3:45 P.M. at the baseball field and Varsity and freshman tryouts will begin at 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on the football field. You must have your physical turned in prior to tryouts. Don’t forget your tennis shoes and cleats!

Boys Basketball Tryouts: You must have your Athletic Physical completed by November 5th and have a GPA of 2.0 or higher on your next progress report (October 28th). The first day of tryouts is Saturday, November 5th in the Wilson Gym. Freshmen and JV tryouts are at 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM. Varsity tryouts are at 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM.
